BRANDING & PACKAGING
PHOTOSHOP & ILLUSTRATOR
The branding of Homemaker Cocktail Kits is a riff on the aesthetic of advertising and illustrations from the mid 20th century. Advertisements for cooking and cleaning products were typically aimed at housewives and had a vaguely condescending tone, so I thought it would be fun to subvert that trope with tongue in cheek copy that would appeal to modern women.
The front of the packaging features mid century style illustrations of the contents; a martini glass bitters, olives, & a mini shaker.
The style of the patterns and character are based on the bold, vector-like illustrations that were common in the 50s and 60s
The kit also comes with a recipe booklet that features seven popular 50s drinks.
The card included in the box gives a short statement that explains the brand ethos. It reads: "Gender inequality got you down? Our drinks might not close the wage gap, but they can make it a little more bearable."
